Some of you may have seen Crown Clinic client Calum Best appearing on Channel 4 News this week.
You can watch Calum on the show in this link here:
He was there to talk about the strain caused by growing up with a father who is an alcoholic – in his case, the brilliant footballer George Best who sadly was killed by his drinking 11 years ago.
Calum is still trying to come to terms with his loss and spoke very movingly about the struggles he has had coping without George and living with him when he was suffering from an addiction.
Calum has made no secret of the fact that, for a period, he struggled with his own addictions – almost certainly passed on through his dad.
Thankfully, unlike George, Calum has successfully battled his demons and is now in fine fettle.
Many of you will be aware that Calum has come to Crown Clinic for three hair transplants in the last four years.
You can see just how great Calum looked from the picture of him in his suit on Channel 4 on this page. It is quite a contrast to his appearance 10 years ago when he was fast losing his hair – there is a picture of Calum when his hair was thinner, too.
Calum is a model whose career depends on his hair looking good. You don't see too many bald models.
He has worked very closely with our surgeon Asim Shahmalak to maintain his hairline. You can see the startling work Asim has done – not just on Calum but other celebrities such as TV's Martin Roberts and the TV doctor Christian Jessen- in these pictures and on other pieces on this website.
We are very proud to have Calum as a client. But we are even prouder of the work he is doing in spreading awareness of how tough it can be for families when a parent is suffering from an addiction. Well done, Calum.
