The BBC news presenter Andrew has been showing signs that he may have had some help with his hair loss in new pictures featured in the media today.
You can see the difference in his hair by following the link here:
It is clear that the 55-year-old star has a fuller hairline and he appears to be dying his hair a darker shade of brown, but has he had a hair transplant?
That is unlikely.
A more likely explanation for his slightly thicker thatch is natural keratin protein hair-buidling fibre that blend and statically cling to existing hair to hide receding areas.
Prince Charles is suspected of using the same method when he was pictured at a polo match with a suspiciously fuller thatch having been pictured a few weeks earlier with little hair.
Other celebrites such as Kevin Spacey has worn a hair piece to cover his hair loss.
You can see how the House of Cards did this here:
However, neither of the above solutions offers a long-term solution to the stars’ hair problems.
The only way they can replace their lost hair is through a hair transplant, as the Crown Clinic’s surgeon Asim Shahmalak explains.
He said that increasing numbers of stars are seeking Follicular Unit Extraction transplants (Wayne Rooney’s and Calum Best’s method) where the scarring is less visible. This is where the follicles are indivdually removed from the back or side of the scalp and transplanted into receding areas.
Other stars prefer the Follicular Unit Transplantation method where a strip of skin is removed from the back or the side of the scalp the follicles removed together. This is cheaper and some surgeons believe that it is more effective.
Asim Shahmalak said: “Increasing numbers of celebrities are seeking help with their hair because they know they have to look good to stay successful in the public eye.”
Crown Clinic is celebrating a brilliant start to 2015.
Our surgeon Dr Shahmalak was honoured to be included in Tatler magazine’s Good Surgery Guide as the ONLY recommended UK hair transplant surgeon.
