Cycling hero’s hair loss

Chris Froome is one of Britain’s greatest ever cyclists.

Along with Bradley Wiggins and many of our Olympic champions in the Velodrome, he has really put cycling on the map in this country.

He won the Tour de France in 2013 and is back in a leading position in this year’s race after being forced to retire from the race last year through injury.

Like a lot of sportsmen including most famously the England football captain Wayne Rooney, Chris is suffering from male pattern baldness.

You can see in our picture of him that 30-year-old Chris’s hair is thinning appreciably around the temples.

Chris would benefit from a hair transplant to fill out the front of his hair line, using either an FUE (Crown Clinic client Calum Best’s method) or a FUT (Christian’s Jessen‘s method) procedure.

Chris would be able to maintain more of his natural hair if he were to take a clinically-proven drug such as Finasteride. This won’t grow any new hair for Chris but it will ensure that he will keep more of his natural hair.

Lots of sportsmen are reluctant to take Finasteride while they are still competing. It is not on the list of banned substances but around 2% of people who take it do suffer side effects such as the loss of libido. Those symptoms go away as soon as you stop taking the drug.

Crown Clinic has benefited from the success of Britain’s sportsmen. We are one of the few clinics in the country which perform beard and sideburn transplants. We saw a surge of bookings after Bradley Wiggins’ triumph in the 2012 Olympics – with men keen to bolster their beard or sideburns and grow proper ‘mutton chop’ sideburns like Bradley.

You can read more about the ‘Bradley Wiggins effect’ on bookings here:

We wish Chris Froome every success in this year’s Tour de France. We could definitely help him with a procedure at Crown Clinic if he was interested in following this year’s race.
