Celebrities we have treated
Jack P Shepherd
The Coronation Street star Jack P Shepherd, who plays David Platt in the soap opera, has noted that he decided to get a hair transplant after stress made him lose his hair. The combination of on-screen pressure and insomnia were determined to be potential causes of the escalation of his hair loss.
Jack required 3,000 hairs to be transplanted into the front of his hairline by Dr. Shahmalak at our transplant clinic in Manchester. The procedure was done in late 2018, and he now has a great full head of hair.
When talking to Crown Clinic, Jack said “I decided to have it done because my hair loss has escalated in the last year, particularly at the front of my scalp. I remember seeing myself on screen and thinking: ‘Oh my God, it is really falling out.’”
Dr. Christian Jessen
TV doctor Christian Jessen has had two hair transplants at Crown Clinic, with his latest procedure coming four years after his first. He required a revisit after a bout with pneumonia caused his hair to thin. He needed 3,000 hairs from the back of his head transplanted to the front of his scalp in order to have a fuller hairline.
Dr Jessen said: “I am very pleased that I had it done again – it has been very empowering for me.”
“I thought to myself, ‘Why am I always telling people how to change things about their bodies that they dislike if I can’t do the same thing for myself?”
The former Liverpool and Manchester City midfielder, Didi Hamann, was thrilled after his hair transplant at Crown Clinic. He has noted that after seeing Wayne Rooney go under the knife, it inspired him to do the same, and he chose Dr. Shahmalak after hearing about his global reputation.
The now pundit had 4,000 hairs transplanted into his temples and hairline, and said that one of the reasons he got the transplant was to look better on TV now that he has begun football commentary with Match of the Day.
When speaking to Crown Clinic, Didi said: “It didn’t bother me too much when I was still playing, but obviously my career now is in the media, and I’m more aware of my appearance and want to look my best. You owe it to the viewer to really take care of your appearance.”
Calum Best, whose father is football icon George Best, came to Crown Clinic for his second hair transplant. He required 2,228 individual hairs to be taken from the side of his scalp to the front to gain a fuller hairline.
After beginning to lose hair at 23 years old, Calum was eventually inspired by the likes of Wayne Rooney and James Nesbitt to get a hair transplant after there was no longer a stigma attached to men seeking FUE or FUT hair transplants.
He said: “It is a fact of life that hair loss is a continuous process. While the hair transplanted in my previous operation is permanent, I am continuing to lose my natural hair. I had the second procedure because I was so pleased with the first one and how it helped boost my confidence and work opportunities.”
