Sylvester Stallone looks years younger thanks to a hair transplant

It is difficult to believe that Hollywood actor Sylvester Stallone has reached the grand old age of 70.

It is even harder to believe when you look at recent pictures of the Rambo actor with an extremely full head of hair.

This is a big contrast to how he looked around 20 years ago when his hair was noticeably receding.

Have a look at the pictures on this page and check out the difference.

We can say with a reasonable amount of confidence that Sly has had a hair transplant in the last 20 years.

He will have had one of the two proven methods – either a Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) transplant, where individual grafts are removed from the back and sides of the scalp and transplanted into the balding areas.

Around 80% of the patients at Crown Clinic are FUE patients – they prefer this method because the scarring is minimal. Crown Clinic’s surgeon Asim Shahmalak performs an advanced type of FUE – first pioneered by DrJohn Cole from the For hair clinic in Atlanta, Georgia – that minimises scarring and maximises density, ensuring a hairline that is natural. Crown Clinic FUE patients include Gogglebox star Chris Steed, the model Calum Best, the former international footballer Didi Hamann and Martin Roberts, presenter of Homes Under The Hammer and star of I’m A Celebrity.

Some Crown Clinic patients prefer the more traditional method of transplantation – FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation), also known as strip surgery. This is where a strip of skin is removed from the back or side of the scalp to obtain the donor hair which is removed from the strip by technicians using a microscope. This method is cheaper than FUE but there is more scarring – not normally a problem if a patient wears their hair long but not really an option if you are a man who likes to shave their head or wear your hair short. Crown Clinic patient, TV doctor Christian Jessen, has had two FUT transplants with our surgeon Dr Shahmalak.

Sly Stallone could have had either method but is more likely to have opted for FUE.

The good news for Sly is that the rate of hair loss does tend to slow down as men reach old age – so there is a good chance that the veteran actor will have a good covering of hair for the rest of his days.

He is certainly a great advert for the benefits of hair transplantation. Well done Sly!
