Here weave go

Hair weaves are in the news.

You may have seen the recent articles about Hollywood star Raquel Welch – still looking stunning at 73.

The secret of her lustrous hair?

A hair weave – a wig which is added to the natural hair to make it appear fuller and less thin.

It is all explained in the article below.

As many as 30% of woman suffer from some kind of hair loss during their lives.

A weave like the one worn by Raquel can offer some temporary respite.

But the one permanent solution to the problem is a hair transplant – either a FUE or FUT procedure, a step taken by increasing numbers of women.

Around 10% of our clients at Crown Clinic are women seeking transplants for thinning hair. We also provide eyebrow and eyelash transplants.

It is not just women who wear weaves or wigs: they are popular amongst male stars, too.

The whole world quickly knew that Kevin was wearing a wig in these pictures because his hair was completely transformed overnight.

Our own surgeon Asim Shahmalak told the Daily Mail: “Kevin is wearing a beautifully made hairpiece.”

A slightly more subtle way of addressing the problem may have been to have a hair transplant.

It is a measure favoured by increasing numbers of stars who don’t want to be seen to be wearing a wig.

We can all remember the ribbing Terry Wogan and Bruce Forsyth have had over the years because of their decision to wear a hairpiece but keep quiet about it.

Whereas stars like Wayne Rooney and Christian Jessen, who have been very honest about having hair transplants to combat their male pattern baldness, have been admired for being so open about seeking help.
