Crown Clinic was in the news AGAIN last week.
You may have read about our surgeon Asim Shahmalak making medical history by performing the UK’s first double eyelash and eyebrow transplant.
The story was covered by the media all over the world including the Daily Mail and Sun newspapers.
You can read more about the case here:
Mr Shahmalak performed the UK’s first eyelash transplant five years ago.
Since then increasing number of women have come to him to augment their eyelashes and eyebrows – women like the lovely Elizabeth Cook, featured in the most recent story.
Elizabeth, a mother of four, had always naturally had very thin eyebrows and wanted them to be bushier – the current fashion, personified by the Duchess of Cambridge, the supermodel Cara Delevingne and many other celebrities.
Additionally, Elizabeth had permanently damaged her eyelashes through gluing on false lashes – she needed a transplant here to fill out her lashes.
Both procedures were done in a single day – the first time this has ever happened on single patient in the UK.
Mr Shahmalak operated on Elizabeth’s eyebrows in the morning and her eyelashes in the afternoon.
The patient was so relaxed during both procedures – done under a local anaesthetic – that she fell asleep as her new lashes were threaded into her lids in the afternoon, showing just how painless these operations are.
The new hair for both her lashes and brows came from a strip of hair removed from the back of her scalp.
That means it grows just like ‘head’ hair – and will need to be curled and trimmed by Elizabeth so that it blends perfectly with the natural hair on her brows and eyelids.
Elizabeth was delighted with both procedures and is planning to return to Crown Clinic for further work on her eyelashes.
